Parbo

Parbo is part of a generation of Argentine artists who took their talents in art and design beyond the traditional confines of gallery and commercial settings.

He first began painting in the streets in 2001, experimenting with letter-based graffiti and stencil. Later he began to create large scale murals with art collectives such as DOMA and FASE. Like other artists working in the muñequismo style, Parbo created cartoonish characters to bring colour and positivity to the streets following the economic crisis of 2001. While often using latex paint and brush work on collaborative on murals, Parbo prefers aerosol when creating street art works alone.

With a long-standing love for skate culture and heavy metal music, Parbo has developed works inspired by the iconic punk band the Ramones, and his skate-inspired works can be seen throughout the city. The general simplicity of Parbo’s street art characters belies his incredible talents as an extremely versatile artist, capable of creating stunningly realistic portraits and provocative installation pieces as well as developing graphic design influenced urban art.

Parbo frequently collaborates with the artist Larva, with whom he also runs top design agency Kid Gaucho.
